As the Host or Guest you can manually archive an event:

Open your app to the Event List
Tap the More Icon (three dots) on the bottom right hand corner of the event
Tap Archive Event
Event will move to the Archive

Events are automatically moved the the archive 24 hours after the event ends. If you would like to Unarchive an Event, long press on the Event in the Archive then tap "Unarchive Event".
